Minecraft

Background

Minecraft was a game officially released in late 2011 and was created by Markus Alexej Persson (AKA Notch). Minecraft is a sandbox; a game genre that lets the players creativity go wild.. The art style is drastically different from anything from those times. All of Minecraft's visuals are made up of a blocky design. You will only find sharp edges and NO circles. Minecraft is known all over the world through popularity in YouTube videos, Twitch streams, and more. Minecraft is also the most sold video game ever with 200 copies being sold of the game. It's also very accessible whether you have a computer, Xbox, PS4, or Switch. Almost all of these versions have cross play which allows users to play with each other on different consoles.

Gameplay

Minecraft's core comes down to building, breaking, and crafting. You break blocks to gain building blocks or materials, can craft those blocks into something, or use them to build. The most popular part though is the building mechanic. You can build anything in Minecraft with the only thing stopping you being your own imagination.

There are challenges facing you in your way though with dangerous mobs. Some of these mobs include zombies, skeletons, and creepers. Each mob in the game has their own unique thing. Skeletons can shoot arrows, creepers blow up, zombies melee hit you, spiders climb walls, etc. You can also craft non-building items like swords or pickaxes. There are a couple of tools in Minecraft and each one has a unique function.

Sword
Increases damage dealt to mobs when in hand; can also be used to acquire string from cobwebs. Swords have a short cool-down time.
Pickaxe
Used to mine stones and ores faster when in hand.
Axe
Chops wood faster and also has the highest damage in the game. Axes have a much longer cool-down compared to swords.
Shovel
Digs dirts and sands faster aswell as creating the path block..
Hoe
Can create farmland for planting and can mine leafs faster.

Objective

The beauty of a sandbox like Minecraft is that the player can choose what to do. There are things like an endgame goal but it has a variety of content afterwood. The official sort of end literally takes place in the End Dimension which includes Endermen and the Ender Dragon. Once you kill the Ender Dragon he will drop an egg, lots of xp, and the end portal. Once you jump through the portal the credits roll for the game. The content after that though is that there's an even harder boss called the Wither and a new end city area opens up when you kill the Ender Dragon. The replayability in Minecraft is so endless that you can even spawn the Ender Dragon again. All you need is some materials to bring him back and you can fight him however many times you want.
